Telemundo announced on Wednesday the shooting of “Zorro: The Sword and the Rose (Zorro: La espada y la rosa)”, which is the TV drama being co-produced by Columbia RTI and Sony Pictures Television International for Telemundo.
This soap opera is made with an all-star cast, including Christian Meier (“La Tormenta (The Storm)”) and Marlene Favela (“Gata Salvaje (Stray Cat)”), and the script is written by “Kiko” Olivieri.
The role played by the Puerto Rican Osvaldo Rios is the mentor of Zorro, Zorro is played by Meier in this drama.
Patricio Wills, the president of Telemundo-RTI and the production head of Telemundo said in the press interview, “We are so moved that the production of this program has started. “Zorro: The Sword and the Rose” is going to be the pioneer of this category.”
The cast of the TV drama includes: Arturo Peniche, Hector Suarez, Jorge Cao, Natasha Klaus, Erick Elias, Amparo Grisales, Christian Tapan, Almudena Sanchez, Luli Boza, Andrea Lopez and Natalia Bedoya, and it will be broadcast from the beginning of 2007.
This story, which tells about the adventure of the legendary Spanish hero, will be produced as a “Telenovela” (TV drama for the Hispanic world) for the first time. To recreate the atmosphere of the 1800's, Telemundo looked for every historical place in Columbia.
The costumes for each role are prepared, and craftsmen and blacksmiths were hired to make every accessory of the era, such as hats, fans, and swords. |
