 It seemed more like a TV drama depicting real life, or a conspiracy, spy, or war movie, but at the end of last month, CNN reported that a top-ranking officer of Bosnia’s command forces had surprisingly?and incomprehensibly?confiscated the Venezuelan TV drama Kassandra, apparently saying that it was in order to “prevent the people from seeing and enjoying programs like this.”
This drama, broadcast around the world in over 100 countries, stars handsome Puerto Rican actor Osvaldo Rios in the duel roles of Ignacio and Luis David Contreras and Coraima Torres as the heroine of the melodrama’s title.
 Osvaldo Rios passed through Puerto Rico. There was a presentation in Miami that was being held to negate a fabricated interview that was being published in Peru. The second installment of the interview was to appear in the entertainment magazine Tebe Gia this week, but in the text, the visiting actor announced that he would contact the CNN office and then visit Bosnia, the only Islamic country in Europe, together with the producers of Kassandra.
Rios said, “Several weeks ago, CNN reported that the TV drama Kassandra was not being broadcast in Bosnia. They said that a top-ranking officer of the revolutionary army had stolen the cassette to prevent the people from watching this drama. This is in spite of the fact that the agent managing distribution of the drama, Coral Pictures International, presented the TV drama Kassandra to the Bosnian people in a ceremony held only three weeks ago. And so we decided to go to Bosnia.”
Hollywood Audition
The actor who said it felt strange to hear his voice dubbed into Russian is now enjoying a good period in his career as an international actor. Similarly, he is now famous in Spain, where his achievements have continued to accumulate ever since the broadcasting of Kassandra brought him great acclaim.
Audiences are unlikely to forget this good-looking actor who starred with the singer Isabel Pantoja in La Bien Paga (Receiving Retribution) and Entre Dos Amores (Between Two Loves).
Says Rios: “In Venezuela, I have a project with the same staff that created Kassandra. I also had an interview in Hollywood for a role in the movie Beyond Reach with Jack Nicholson and Jacqueline Bisset. I’m waiting for the callback. The audition was on November 26. The role is a Columbian immigrant who enters the US illegally and lives in Los Angeles but can’t do anything because of the law. I’m hoping everything will go well.”
La Fortuna y Los Ojos Del Hombre (Fortune and a Man’s Eyes), Salvemos Los Delfines (Save the Dolphins), Las Solteronas de la Calle de San Sebastian (Old Woman of St. Sebastian Street), M.A.C.H.O.S., and the musical comedies Guys and Dolls and La Piaf ? Rios has also played important roles in various theatrical productions, applying himself to polishing his art and deepening his sense of responsibility.
Says the star, “Wherever I have been, I have borne the responsibilities that go with working as a foreigner in a foreign country. This is so that I do not dirty but elevate the name of my country.”
