The actor Osvaldo Rios is going to ask RTI for special permission to visit Puerto Rico and stand at the front line of the difficult situation in Vieques Island. Yesterday federal police held off the group of demonstrators against the military action the US. Navy had taken for many decades in Vieques.
Rios who is the main character of “Rauzan”, the new version of “A gentleman at Rauzan (Le Caballero de Rauzan)” is also a member of “Vieques Peace Foundation” and worries about the incident very much.
“I am a spokesman of the peace organization and I just want to put an end to the military exercise in this island. The high uranium content bullets have been destroying the island’s ecosystem, and there is an increase in the death rate of the residents under the influence of gas. In addition, a few months ago, a citizen David Sanes was hit by the missile “accidentally”, but there has been no explanation about it.”
The leader of the organization, Aruba Encarnacion said that 600 people would go to the island for one Puerto Rican arrestee when Rios talked with him.
“If so, the federal police will have to arrest all of us. I will go with them”, the actor said confidently.
